This tobacco box is in the form of an elongated oval. It measures 3 5/8 inches in length, 2 3/8 inches in width, and approximately 3/4 inches in height. It has a hinged lid, and the interior of both body and lid are gilded. The exterior of the object is decorated with an abstract geometric pattern. The top has acid-etched decoration in the form of flowers, a butterfly, and the figure of a woman holding a tray of fruit above her head. The back is decorated with acid-etched foliage and a tea cup. This tobacco box appears in the Gorham catalog for 1888. The upper outer rim of the box base is marked with the Gorham logo marks, "STERLING/ 385/ 0 (Gorham date mark for 1882)." Condition is very good.

An English Georgian Vinaigrette, Birmingham, 1813-14. Marks divided between lid and box, grill marked with standard mark. Makers mark xx probably xx. The lid is nicely engraved with acorn and oak leaves, the grill is pierced with round holes which are arranged in a diamond pattern. Interior gilded. The loop for hanging appears to be a later addition. 1" x 3/4" x 1/4".
A very small vinaigrette, Birmingham, 1811-12. Marks are divided between lid and box. The lid is marked with a standard mark. The makers mark is poorly struck and is probably 'JL' (John Lawrence & Co). The lid is engraved with a design of hearts and arrows. The grill is engraved with a floral motif. Interior gilded. The engraving on the lid shows wear. 3/4" x 1/2" x 1/4".

An unusual aesthetic period hinged box made by Gorham, date marked 1882. The front is applied with copper and silver plants, a frog, and a flying bird. The back is applied with a flying insect and bird. The box is curved to fit a pocket which along with it's size suggests that it might have been made for small cigars.

This very large silver plated Jewelry box is elaborately decorated with motifs associated with romance and marriage, including love birds, arrows, churches, and baskets of flowers. Condition fine.

A very rare American 14 Karat gold Jewelry box made by Gorham, probably in the early 20th century. The lid is engraved with trailing foliate and floral motifs against an engine-turned background. A beautiful cipher monogram, CCC or CGG is engraved in the central cartouche. The original tray and lining are present.

An American Sterling soap dish with hand-chased decoration against a hammered background. The reverse is hand-chased with a magnificient monogram. Circa 1885.
A double-lidded English sterling nutmeg grater, London, 1829-30.  The lid to the storage container is nearly invisible. Handsome, finely made and in good condition.

American sterling card case made by Gorham, date marked 1878. In the original box. Condition pristine. Beautifully engraved with a swallow in pursuit of an insect against a matte guilded background. The reverse finely engraved 'George to Tinnie'.
