This is a large, Art Nouveau style compote made in Germany, circa 1890-1900. It measures 10 1/2" diameter at its widest point and is 7 5/8" in height. The bowl of the compote has an applied floral border, while the foot is decorated with stylized repousse Art Nouveau style flowers in two panels. The silver is 800 fine, and the condition is excellent. The outer edge of the foot rim is stamped with the German crown and moon mark, 800, and the maker's mark, "GUTRUM".
