The oval body of this Aesthetic Movement sterling silver flask is decorated with intricately-chased, Japanesque style cherry branches, foliage and cherries. The upper back continues the naturalist motifs, and the lower back is engraved with a script inscription as follows:
"Intended for Bro. Edward
By his friend Wm. Crosby.
After his death, kindly tendered
to me. C.H. Baker."
The top is hinged and engraved with "ELB" in cipher-style script.

The underside is marked with the Gorham lion, anchor, G logo marks, "STERLING/ 21" and the Gorham date mark for 1887, a stamped crown.
The interior of the lip and lid are hinged. It measures 6 3/8 inches in length, 3 3/4 inches in width, and 1 3/8 inches in depth.
