An American Sterling Silver Bowl in the Aesthetic Movement Style Made by Tiffany & Company, Circa 1875

This two-handled bowl is decorated with cast and applied Japanesque decoration. The bowl is elevated on a pierced pedestal with a stylized wind and chrysanthemum pattern. The body has applied cherry blossom, crane, and bamboo decoration throughout. The handles are attached at mid body and rise slightly as they approach the upper rim. The interior of the bowl is gilded, and the exterior is a matte-finish silver. The front is engraved with "Stewart McDonald,/ FROM/ A.T. STEWART./ 1875" in Old English script. The underside is marked "TIFFANY & CO./ 2842 MAKERS 4355/ STERLING SILVER/ 925-1000/ M." The bowl measures 3 1/8 inches in height, 5 1/2 inches in diameter, and 8 1/4 inches across the handles. Condition is excellent, with no evidence of monogram removals, repairs, or replacements.
